How the impact mechanism works
Hold the base and rotate the handle: detents click through four settings, and the one you've chosen shows in the viewing window. Press down and the handle loads a spring, then releases an internal impact block against the tamping base. Let go and the mechanism resets itself, while your setting stays exactly where you left it.

- Self-levelling – The design keeps the base aligned with the basket, so you don't lock a tilt into the puck.
- Concentric rings on the face – The 58 mm base leaves a ring pattern on the puck, designed to encourage more even water distribution across and through the coffee bed.
- Automatic reset – Nothing to re-cock or re-dial between shots.
- Aluminium and stainless steel – Comes with a silicone protective base, in the six ORBI colours.
In your routine
- Pick a setting. Rotate the handle and check the window.
- Distribute. Level the grounds first, ideally with the Varia ORBI Distributor.
- Tamp. Seat Calibre on the basket and press to trigger the impact. Release, and it's reset for the next shot.
Our take
How hard you tamp matters less than tamping the same way every time. Calibre gives you a number you can write next to your recipe, which takes the guesswork out of dialling in: fix the tamp, then change only the grind. If you're stepping up from the tamper that comes with ORBI, this is the upgrade that makes your routine repeatable.

Come si regola un pressino dinamometrico regolabile come Calibre?
Tieni ferma la base e ruota l'impugnatura: scatta su 15, 20, 25 e 30 kg e il numero scelto si legge nella finestrella. Scegli una forza e tienila fissa mentre regoli la macinatura.
Che differenza c'è tra un pressino a molla e uno a impatto?
In Calibre la pressione sull'impugnatura carica una molla che rilascia un blocchetto interno contro la base alla forza impostata: la forza la decide il meccanismo, non quanto ti appoggi. E puoi scegliere tra quattro livelli invece di una sola molla fissa.
Devo riarmarlo dopo ogni pressatura?
No. Il meccanismo si riarma da solo quando rilasci l'impugnatura e la forza scelta resta impostata.
È compatibile con ORBI e con altri filtri da 58 mm?
Calibre ha una base autolivellante da 58 mm e fa parte della linea Varia ORBI, quindi è pensato per il filtro da 58 mm di ORBI Portable e ORBI PRO. I filtri da 58 mm di altri marchi variano leggermente e Varia non ha ancora pubblicato la tolleranza esatta: scrivici in chat prima di usarlo su un'altra macchina.
